Deceptively Simple: Rione XIII

Deceptively Simple: Rione XIII

With just a red neon 'XIII' sign above the door, it can be easily missed. Tucked away along the bustling streets of Capitol Hill on 15th Ave, Rione XIII serves up simple, yet delectable, Roman Italian inspired cooking. It's perfect for a date night, a special occasion or a casual happy hour. Just be prepared to come back again.

The menu has small plates to share, pizza, fresh pasta, and a wonderful selection of wine and cocktails. Everything is artfully prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. It's almost impossible to go wrong with anything on the menu. So what should you get? For drinks, try the Blood Orange Negroni or The Martinez. For dinner, go for the Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe or the Spring Carrot Ravioli.

I haven't been for Happy Hour yet, but from what I've seen it offers similar dishes to their regular menu, just slightly smaller portions and about half the price. Plus, you can't go wrong with $5 cocktails.

The atmosphere here is perfect. Fun and inviting, but still sophisticated and intimate. High ceilings create an open air feel, while the exposed brick and rustic-style chandelier hanging over head fill the restaurant with character. Everything inside is very well done.

The service here is simply top-notch. Friendly, attentive and helpful. You'll never feel rushed or interrupted.

Finally, with Rione XIII being an Ethan Stowell restaurant, you'd probably expect it to be expensive. It's not. Everything is very reasonable. Share a couple small plates or get one of the delicious pasta dishes and you won't be disappointed.
